We have a pretty amazing team here at Spark.Orange, so it’s only natural to want to highlight our people! And, what better way is there for you to learn more about who we are and what we do? For the first installment in our #SparkSquad series, I sat down with Karen Simbari, Project Manager at Spark.Orange since 2015.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
The potential for growth and improvement gets me out of bed every morning. I set daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals in both my personal and professional life. In my personal life, I have fitness goals that I work on at Urban Life, like hitting new lifting PR’s. In my professional life, I set goals to expand my role within Spark.Orange, by increasing my number of certifications, improving my customer interactions, and learning something new on a daily basis.
What brought you to Spark.Orange?
Initially, Derek recruited me to join the team. Since that day, I’m here because of the exciting growth we’ve experienced and the potential for continued growth. I feel like the possibilities are endless in the Salesforce world. No matter what you’re focused on – marketing, processes, reporting – you have the ability to take what you’re passionate about and run with it.
How would you describe your day job to a child?
Our job is difficult to explain to people who don’t have a CRM background – so for children, I would leave the description pretty high-level and say “we do computer software things”. For someone who understands CRM, I would explain that we take business processes and put them in the cloud. We help standardize and automate processes for customers on an extremely customized and individual basis, helping them improve efficiency and giving them the ability to scale.
What are you most looking forward to this year at Spark.Orange?
I’m excited for more growth – both personally, and company-wide. It’s really exciting to see everything happening and that makes me excited.
What are you most looking forward to this year in your personal life?
I’m really looking forward to getting married in July, at The Lodge at Welch Allyn. I’m also excited to follow that up a few days later with my honeymoon in Hawaii!
What’s your favorite ’90s jam?
This is a difficult one – but it’s gotta be Ace of Base I Saw The Sign. It’s silly but it makes me very nostalgic. Wonderwall also gets an honorable mention!
If you could only have one cocktail for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Red Wine – no hesitation.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
I think I’d like to have endless amounts of money to provide for others – it’s not a traditional superpower, but I’d like to have the ability to help other people.
What’s the best vacation you’ve ever been on?
Punta Cana or Cancun – both with my fiance Johnny. Any vacation with him is a lot of fun!
Do you have any hidden talents?
I’m really good at checkers. And this is less hidden if you’re an Urban Life member, but I would consider lifting a hidden talent.
What advice do you have for someone hoping to work at Spark.Orange?
Before you apply here, you should know: we’re a lot of fun! But we’re also highly selective about each person joining our team. We are passionate about Salesforce and knowledgeable about all that it can do for the businesses that work with us, so do your research in advance! Whether you’ve worked in Salesforce before or not, going on trailhead and getting a better understanding will help. And as important as it is to know and love Salesforce, you should also get a pulse on Spark.Orange specifically. Dig around on our new website, follow our social profiles, and get an indication of what our company culture is.
